Tomáš A. Matějovský is one of the founding partners of the company. He is responsible for the business strategy and relationships with financial institutions and partners in Switzerland, where he has permanent residence. He also currently works as an independent advisor for Swiss private bank E. Gutzwiller & Cie., Banquiers, in Basel.
Between 1980 and 1983, he formed and managed the portfolio management department of Zurich-based Ueberseebank AG (currently AIG Private Bank). He had also worked at the Zurich stock exchange for Private Bank & Trust Co. Ltd. since 1972. Mr. Matějovský studied at the University of Economics in Prague and at the University of Zurich.
In 1983, he formed Gutzwiller & Partner Ltd., a Zurich-based company specialising in portfolio management and private banking for one of the oldest private banks in Switzerland, E. Gutzwiller & Cie., Banquiers, Basel, becoming its Chief Executive Officer and the holder of the banking licence. He became the firm’s majority shareholder, member of the board of directors and executive director in 1992 when he purchased the company together with other partners as part of a management buyout. After having sold his majority share at Gutzwiller & Partner Ltd. to Rabobank (Schweiz) AG, Zurich in 1996, he remained a member of the board of directors until the end of 1999 and later became its private advisor.
